One day after candidacy opened, on December 2, 2024, incumbent [[Chief of Osolia|Chief]] [[tz_scion]] announced that he would likely not seek re-election due to lacking time and motivation for the Chiefdom.

Soon after that announcement, former [[Director of Finance]] [[Hydrogen]] announced his candidacy for Chief. He stated that he would like to "aid in the implementation of our planned economic reforms as well as continue to develop the Osolian state".

Hydrogen initially ran unopposed, but after some discussion in the election discussion chat, with encouragement from [[Speaker of Osolia|Speaker]] [[TheRandomMelon|Michael Webb]] in particular (stating "I think having competition would be fun, so I encourage you to run"), Josephine announced her candidacy for Chief on December 4, 2024.

The next day, on December 5, 2024, former [[Chief of Osolia|Chief]] and current [[Director of Infrastructure]] [[CalvinX]] decided to run after "kicking the idea around" for a while. He stated that, "I would more or less run as a status quo candidate, since based on the server activity, we’re collectively not in a Minecraft mood".

On December 6, 2024, Josephine released a document detailing her platform called "Caterpillar's Manifesto". This manifesto detailed her plans for her term as Chief, including further city reforms and the development of a government building complex called Capitol Park.

No candidates have currently announced their cabinet, although Josephine has stated that she would try to hire as many of the current cabinet as possible, and Calvin has asked anyone interested in a position to message him directly.

== Episode content ==
The episode starts with the host, [[TheRandomMelon|Michael Webb]], greeting the audience and explaining the premise of the program, much like the previous two episodes, except also thanking the sponsor of the episode, [[Steak King]], before playing the [[Korsomas Ned Osoles|national anthem of Osolia]]. Following the conclusion of the national anthem, Webb explains how the audience can request music. His starting song request for the show was "Ruler of Everything" by Tally Hall, which he describes as being created by people who were "very high on drugs", but also stating, "It's an absolute banger".

At about 12 minutes into the episode, Webb reads an advertisement for Steak King, which had just had its grand opening of its first location, a food truck-style building located in downtown [[Sahosam]]. This is notable as this was the first and last time that ''The DJ Hour'' would have any sponsorship segments, as it proved unpopular amongst listeners.

At about 26 minutes into the episode, Webb introduces the halftime song, an [[Osol]] language cover of "Vivir Mi Vida" by Marc Anthony composed and performed by Speaker [[tz_scion]]. It is the first song composed in Osol to have been translated from a non-English language, in this case Spanish.

To close out the show, Webb took Hydrogen's request of "Enormous Penis" by Da Vinci's Notebook as he personally enjoys the song a lot, especially for its comedic acapella style, which appeals to him as he sang many acapella songs in high school.

On September 8th, 2024, Josephine had the idea to create her own radio program while listening to an episode of ''The DJ Hour''. She immediately messaged Michael Webb, the owner of OPR, with her idea and the two workshopped it into ''Vinyl Vantage''. The show initially intended to focus entirely on heavy metal, but the show was broadened to focus on all classic rock music.

With this in mind, a poll was conducted that evening which informed Josephine and Webb that five people were interested in listening, and a further three supported its existence. The pilot would eventually air on September 11th, 2024.

Soon after Osolia's founding on December 15, 2023, discussion ramped up in Osolia about creating a public radio station that could host various shows and build community. For instance, it was proposed that businesses could sponsor radio shows to promote the economy. The main two discussing Osolia Radio at the time were Michael Webb and [[tz_scion]], who still are the main two people running OPR to this day. On January 2, 2024, tz_scion, who was [[Speaker of Osolia|Speaker]] at the time, decided to propose a measure to the [[Osolian Assembly|Assembly]] that would add Jockie Music to the server, allowing Osolia Radio to use it. The vote passed on January 4, 2024 with 6 yes, 0 no, and 5 abstain votes, and the bot was added, officially creating Osolia Public Radio in the process.

Michael Webb would take the reins of creating this radio station, and therefore got to own the station itself. He immediately asked Osolians to add music to the Regular Programming playlist, a collection of songs that would shuffle and play 24/7 using the Jockie Music bot. Hundreds of songs were added over the next several days.

The '''Melonian Transitional Legislature''' was the legislature of the [[Melonian Transitional State]]. It consisted of all invitees to the successor of the [[Republic of Melonia]] and was organized through a series of votes held in a Discord server.

It was replaced by the [[Osolian Assembly]] upon the passage of [[Melonian Transitional State#Measure_E:_Governing_structures|Measure E]] on December 14, 2023.

== History ==
Several Melonians had increasingly become disgruntled with the state of affairs in Melonia, particularly relating to the [[Cieurnish Empire]]. On December 11th, 2023, [[cstro]] and [[tz_scion]] called [[TheRandomMelon]] to talk to him about their proposal to shut down the Republic of Melonia and invite who they considered to be the core Melonians to a new Discord server. TheRandomMelon was apprehensive about the move, but went through with it, officially closing the server on December 15th, 2023.

Before Melonia officially closed, however, the government that would become the Chiefdom of Osolia was already being formed, at the time called Project Melonia 2.0. The temporary government of Project Melonia 2.0 consisted of [[TheRandomMelon|Michael Webb]] as its sole leader, while everyone else served as voting members who would vote on every detail of the new server and government from what kind of government it would use, to its name, to its flag design, and more.

The final vote of the Melonian Transitional Legislature was on December 13, 2023, when Webb proposed Measure E, which sought to officially establish the Chiefdom of Osolia, with an executive branch headed by the Chief, and a legislative branch containing all citizens, with the Speaker as its leader. This measure passed 7-1, officially disbanding the Melonian Transitional State and its legislature.

== Powers, duties and responsibilities ==
The transitional legislature, by nature of it being temporary, did not have explicit powers, duties or responsibilities set in any document.

However, in practice, the legislature was held responsible to decide on every element of the Osolian server and government. The leader of this legislature, Michael Webb, was the only person who could formally bring forward a measure and ran the vote, deciding how long they would last and how to break ties. Ties would've been broken simply by Webb himself as he stated at one point, but no measures ended up tying.

== Composition ==
The transitional legislature was composed of 12 total people, including its leader, Michael Webb. This was equal to the total population that made up the Melonian Transitional State, as there was a push even at this early point for a more direct form of democracy to be instilled in the new government.
