my.osolia (online as my.osolia.xyz) is an Osolian e-government platform which seeks to centralize information on the Osolian government and provide services to Osolian citizens and residents. The platform is operated by the Digital Osolia Office. The website was launched to the Osolian public on 29 May, 2024 at 9:21 PM UTC.
Functionality
The platform facilitates the process of submitting candidacy and voting (e-elections or e-voting) and allows government officials to publish news and guidance, making information easier to access for Osolian citizens. It has become part of an ongoing effort to demystify certain aspects of Osolian life, such as banking, currency, building guidelines, and mail.
History
Melonian origins
my.osolia originated in the Republic of Melonia as what was then referred to as gov.melonia and was the reason Hydrogen joined the Melonian server. Work began around November 2023, mostly related to planning the future capabilities of the site. Among planned features were the ability to vote and file taxes online.
The gov.melonia also incorporated the creation of OneMelonia, which would have been a universal account system with a profile for every Melonian citizen. This way, common information about Melonians could be auto filled and kept track of easily.
The establishment of gov.melonia was written in a bill that was never voted on but was discussed. gov.melonia never launched in Melonia as the online nation became defunct on 16 December, 2023 at 6:00 am UTC.
Osolian renaissance
The gov.melonia project was brought back, this time under the my.osolia moniker, a few months after the establishment of the new Osolian state.
Previously planned features, such as company registration or tax filing, were made obsolete due to the new governmental structures in Osolia.
Development ramped up from the start of May 2024 to release the public beta of the platform on the 29th of May.
Use for voting
The website was used in June 2024 to facilitate candidacy and voting for the June 2024 Osolian general election. All Osolians were therefore instructed to register an account so that they would be able to submit their candidacy and cast their ballot on June 15th. Only one Osolian opted to use the legacy Google Forms-based voting system, resulting in a total turnout of 14.
