The Governor of Sahosam is a governor in the Chiefdom of Osolia, responsible for managing the city of Sahosam. The Governor is appointed by and responsible to the Chief, and serves in the Chief's Council. They are confirmed by the Osolian Assembly with a majority vote.
The responsibilities of the Governor, which are shared with the Chief of Osolia and the Director of Infrastructure, include upkeep of streets and roads within city limits, updating street signs regularly to reflect changes in numbering and street names, construction of new streets and roads to allow for the expansion of the city, organizing building projects, among others.
The office was first created upon the appointment of FlynneSkye as Governor. Previously, the city had been managed by the Chief's Council, per the Osolian Constitution.
History
Beginnings (August 17, 2024 - present)
This position, despite being established by the Osolian Constitution from the beginning, was not utilized until after the August 2024 general election, where Chief CalvinX was elected unopposed. He appointed FlynneSkye, a longtime citizen who has advocated for change in Sahosam specifically, including getting a governor appointed. She was confirmed unopposed by the Assembly, 10-0, on August 17, 2024.
Since then, however, Flynne has not put much into action due to being busy in her personal life.
However, she has outlined her plans for Sahosam in a document titled "Sahosam Design Ideas", in which she proposes a partial reconstruction and expansion to Sahosam. This includes expanding the Mellen River, a riverbank terrace redesign for the edges around the river, a medieval redesign for the bridges in Sahosam, and a general medieval design throughout all publicly owned areas.
Little feedback has been given on this proposal thus far, and none of its proposals have moved forward so far, as of September 10, 2024.
