Chief's Council
The Chief's Council is a group of directors[1] (leaders of government departments) that are appointed and led by the Chief of the Chiefdom of Osolia to lead government efforts in certain respects, such as in finance or in infrastructure. While Chiefs are not required to have departments or Council members, all Chiefs thus far have established a Council and it is held in high regard by Osolian citizens, even becoming a crucial part of Chief candidates' campaigns, where Chief candidates will announce their Council upon running.
Establishment
The Chief's Council system was mostly carried over from Osolia's predecessor, the Republic of Melonia, which, in a very similar vein to today's Chief's Council, had a Cabinet of Ministers appointed by their President. The idea of the Chief's Council, though, was specifically a part of EESocket's idea of a tribal government system. No public objections to the Council were recorded, and the idea was then included in the initial version of the Constitution. The Constitution of the Chiefdom of Osolia, which is the supreme law of the land and establishes the government of Osolia, practically begins by outlining what the Chief's Council is, what they can and cannot do, and how they are appointed.
Evolution of the Council
Governmental Reorganization Amendment
On December 8, 2024, the Governmental Reorganization Amendment passed unanimously amongst those who voted in the Osolian Assembly. However, there was some controversy regarding the fact that only 5 total people voted on the amendment, so another vote was ran immediately following the first result to vote on repealing the amendment. The amendment repeal vote failed almost unanimously the next day, giving way for Chief Scion to take action using the amendment's provisions to dissolve departments of the Chief's Council.
On December 9, 2024, Chief Scion went ahead with his plans and dissolved the Department of Finance and the Department of Events. The Director of Finance, Michael Webb, chose to resign before Chief Scion dissolved the department officially, while Director of Events TriforceComet let Chief Scion fire him before dissolution. Both departments' responsibilities now fall on the Chief directly, leaving only the Department of Infrastructure, the Governor of Sahosam, and the Governor of Beryzam as Council positions.
