The Governmental Reorganization Amendment, also referred to as Constitutional Amendment 6, is a law and constitutional amendment in Osolia, passed by the Osolian Assembly with (initial) 100% approval. The amendment seeks to allow the Chief to appoint Directors and Governors to their Council without Assembly approval to streamline the decision making process, along with giving the Chief the ability to dissolve departments of the Council.

Background

On December 6, 2024, now-former Director of Events TriforceComet posted a message in #general in the Chiefdom of Osolia Discord server expressing his frustration regarding Osolia becoming "over encumbering to engage in", stating that he was told that it wouldn't be difficult to play and do what you wanted, but that he felt that promise hadn't come true. When Speaker Michael Webb asked him to clarify, he stated that one of his major issues was the amount of departments to keep track of, along with all of the debates to keep track of for major moves and legislation.

After multiple hours of discussion between TriforceComet, Speaker Webb, and Chief Scion, the trio decided to form the Governmental Reorganization Amendment to streamline how the Chief's Council works and allowing Chief Scion to enact his plan to fold the Department of Finance and the Department of Events, making it easier for citizens to participate in their view.

Provisions

Changes to the Chief's powers over their Council

This amendment replaces the first bullet point of Article 1, Section 1, Clause 2 of the Constitution. It removes the requirement for Directors to be approved by the Assembly, along with formally allowing the Chief to dissolve departments once a Director is fired or resigns.
