The Department of Events is a department of the Osolian government which is responsible for creating and operating community and in-game events, such as Minecraft minigames, Jackbox nights, and movie nights.
Responsibilities
The Department of Events is responsible for the creation, development and operation of all community and in-game events. This takes various forms, from simple community events such as Jackbox Night, where community members gather in a call to play the party video game series The Jackbox Party Pack, to elaborate themed in-game events such as Osolia Party, a Mario Party-styled game with an Osolian and Minecraft twist to it.
The department is also responsible for operating items related to events, such as providing corporate shop stands near big events to bolster businesses.
History
The Department of Events was established on April 16, 2024 by ChiefMichael Webb in response to the growing demand for action by the Osolian government to address stagnancy and inactivity on the Osolian Minecraft server. Initially, Webb was going to appoint now-Chief TriforceComet to this position, but Triforce declined due to being unable to take on responsibilities such as a Cabinet role at the time.
Webb instead appointed at-the-time First LadyTheCelestialJellyfish aka Star. In a statement the Chief's Office published on April 16, 2024, Chief Webb stated, "She is an amazing builder, and has the leadership skills and abilities to create some great events for all of us to enjoy." The Osolian Assembly voted with a large majority to appoint TheCelestialJellyfish to this position, and she still holds the position to this day. The vote tally of the measure is listed below.

From there, several ideas were passed around during Star's term as Director, most notably Osolia Party, a Mario Party-style game that would be played within the Osolian server, with an Osolian/Minecraft twist. The first board for the game had begun construction and various gameplay elements were drafted, but nothing came to fruition during Star's term.
On July 4, 2024, following a low approval rating of 20% in the Osolia July 2024 approval rating poll, the lowest amongst all officials in government, Star announced her resignation from the Department of Events, citing her inability to balance the responsibilities of the office with her personal life. Chief TriforceComet has not appointed a successor, instead taking on the Director of Events' responsibilities himself.
