Sahosam is the capital and largest city of Osolia. It was the first settlement on the Osolian server and is therefore the current spawn. It is home to the majority of the Osolian population and is the economic and cultural center of Osolia, housing the vast majority of businesses and buildings of significance.

The site was chosen before the server was opened due to its mixed geography, proximity to different biomes, access to resources and rivers, and ample room for expansion. The first building to be constructed in Sahosam was the Sahosam Public Villager Trading Hall, which was constructed in creative mode. Sahosam is also home to the Longhouse.

In the Nether, Sahosam is connected to the rest of the server via the Osolian Nether Highway, of which it is the approximate center point.

Etymology

Sahosam comes from the Osol word for a city or town, sahosama, which itself derives from the word for "settlement", sahos.

Politics

Administration

The city is governed by the Chief's Council, most significantly the Chief and the Director of Infrastructure, as well as the Governor of Sahosam. The Governor is nominated by the Chief and confirmed by the Assembly. The Chief's Council is the supreme decision-making authority in the city and has the ability to override the Governor.

Responsibilities of administration include upkeep of streets and roads within city limits, updating street signs regularly to reflect changes in numbering and street names, construction of new streets and roads to allow for the expansion of the city, organizing building projects, and several other roles.

Geography and boroughs

Central Sahosam

Central Sahosam has a mostly flat topology and is situated in a Plains biome. It is home to the Longhouse, the Public Villager Trading Hall, the Storage Silo, the Sahosam Public Farms Building, the Sahosam Central railway station, several player bases, and many businesses and transport links. It is the most significant borough of Sahosam.

Middle-earth

Middle-earth, which is home currently only to the Hobbit Hole, is situated in a Savanna biome to the west of Central Sahosam. The two are connected by Mordor Bridge, which crosses over the Mellen River. Some bases may be considered to be part of Middle-earth which are found further west.

Sahosam Hills

Sahosam Hills is situated south of Central Sahosam in a forest biome. It borders a mesa.

Previously, Sahosam Hills was only easily accessible via elytra or Oslink rail. However, a water elevator has also been constructed, making Central Sahosam and Sahosam Hills more connected.

It is home to the Sahosam Hills railway station alongside other player bases.

Sahosam Heights

Situated southeast of Central Sahosam (east of Sahosam Hills), Sahosam Heights shares similar geography and topology to Sahosam Hills. The two are split by a hill, which the OPR Tower sits atop. Sahosam Heights is home to the Courthouse railway station as well as the Events Center.
